Phone to Laptop

I opened a file on my iPhone 7 through Adobe Digital Editions and I tried to open the same file on my MacBookPro laptop with the same Adobe ID and it would not let me.  It gave me an error reading:

Error getting License. License Server Communication Problem:

E_LIC_ALREADY_FULFILLED_BY_ANOTHER_USER

Please let me know how I could access this file on my laptop.  It is a purchased file from Heinemann's website (Fountas and Pinnell Literacy Continuum).
