Problem with Digital Editions authorization

My computer is authorized with an ID for Digital Editions 1.7.2.1131.  However, with the latest update of Digital Editions 2.0.67532, it won't authorize my computer with an ID, which means that I am unable to download books to my ereader and I can only read them on the computer.  I get the following error when I try to authorize my computer with an ID: E_auth_not_ready.

How do I correct this problem?  Thank you.

    Unfortunately, ADE2.0 is a braindead program.

    Sometimes ADE gets its registration/activation confused and in a semi-authorized state..

    This often happens on updating from an earlier version.

    Try completely removing any authorization using ctrl-shift-D to ADE (cmd-shift-D if on Mac).

    Restart ADE, and then reauthorize with your Adobe ID.

    If that doesn't work ....

    There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0.  Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.

    Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

    I'm using 4.5.3 and it doesn't work. I used 3.0 and it didn't work either.
