Problems with Adobe Digital Editions 4.5? Why won't Adobe respond to all our hassles

I am a frequent and longstanding user of library ebooks, using overdrive and adobe digital editions. I tried to download books on the computer I am using in Cape Town. I had to download the new ADE and then found that every time I downloaded a book from my library account ade instead downloaded repeatedly but the books never did. Then I connected my Nook, from which I was successfully reading previously downloaded books until this morning, to the computer. Now every single book on my nook gets the error message "loan token not found". Neither Adobe nor Overdrive are of any help whatsoever. I now have no holiday reading.
