Problems with authorising computer in ADE vers 3

I have downloaded and installed ADE vers 3 onto our laptop but on trying to authorise it I get the message:
'E_AUTH_NOT_READY digital editions encountered an error on the activation server'
I had reset the password for the ID (we had forgotten the original) earlier today before installing ADE - is this causing a problem?

Also, I do have this laptop computer authorised with our Sony Reader for PC app - is this causing a conflict??
