Program opens, loads book previews but all options greyed-out.

I have dowloaded three books from Freading via my library account.

They have a sticker saying 13 days.  That's no problem if I could open them in the first place.

Every option in ADE is greyed out though.

And I'll double-check this tomorrow, but my first dowload of ADE seems to have silently deleted itself last night.  If that's so what else might it have the right to interfere with?

Any thoughts very welcome.
