Recent .epub files will not open in ADE 4.5.11

The most recent version of Adobe Digital Editions is 4.5.11 from Dec 2019.

I am finding that it will not open recent .epub files from an online publisher.

The same files open fine in other applications like calibre.

Have there been recent updates in the epub format that ADE cannot handle?
