Removing an old Adobe ID without password

I want to connect Digital Editions to my new e-reader. But Digital Editions turns out te be authorized by an old Adobe ID. This ID belongs to a provider I do not use anymore. I cannot recollect the password so I can't remove the authorization. Removal of the entire program doesn't work either. So, wat to do?
