Return Borrowed Item Crashes 4.0.3

Since upgrading to 4.0 I am unable to return borrowed items I get the following message "Error returning item. License Server Communication Problem: E_BAD_LOAN_ID" than when I click OK Adobe Digital Editions 4.0.3 crashes. I didn't have this problem with 3.0 so don't think it is my OS settings.
