Run as administrator required to open Adobe Digital Editions

When trying to open Adobe Digital Editions 4.5 from the desktop icon, the client presents a blank screen. Choosing to "Run as administrator" actually launches the application and contents, but we do not have administrator rights on the computers in our organization. This was not an issue until recently. I have also tried ADE 4.0 with the same results.
