Shortcut keys don't work

I have installed ADE 2.0 on Windows 8. The shortcut keys don't work at all, and the navigation bar only works in full screen. What is going on?

Even though I have lots of issues with ADE2.0, all the navigation/shortcuts work fine for me in Windows 8, full screen or not.

I am running it in desktop mode (as I run everying in Windows 8).

You haven't tried something to pretend it is a Start screen style app?

I can't think of any other reason.
