The latest Windows version cannot read an epub file

I am running the latest ADE Windows version 4.5.11.187303 on a Windows 8.1 desktop,

and it cannot read an epub file.

The book shows up in the library, but will not open.

The file works fine in Calibre, so it is clearly another ADE problem.
