"This title has been activated using a different ID"

I cannot get the new version of Adobe Digital Editions to download an ebook from the lilbrary onto my computer.  When I click to open the file, it says "Error! Check Activation."

My PC is authorized under my email address.  Using the same email address, I loaded the OverDrive App onto my Nook to try to download the ebook directly instead.  Now on the Nook I get the error in the subject line, "This title has been activated using a different ID."

Please advise how I can resolve this!  I tried a chat session with Adobe but that was useless as they didn't even seem to understand the issue.
