Transferring a book from Macbook to iPad

Hey everyone,

I downloaded a textbook onto my laptop before I bought a new iPad. I need to put it on my iPad as I travel with that more frequently and they typical way of transferring the file (connecting my iPad to my laptop and transferring that way) will not work. Can someone please help me
