Trouble with starting the program

Hi all.

I have the following problem.

When I click on the program or try to open a file, this message appears

"Si è verificato un errore in Adobe Digital Editions 4.0. L'applicazione verrà chiusa"

which is Italian for "An error has occurred in Adobe Digital Editions 4.0. The application will be closed".

I need to open the e-books I bought, but I'm not able to.

Help please.
