unable to authorise purchases

I am unable to authorise ebooks purchased 3 years ago on the new bersion 3 of Digital Editions. The login and password are correct. The error message reads, "The vendor account you entered is not associated with the item you are trying to open. Try again."

What do I have to do to solve this?
