Unable to de-activate/authorize

ADE has an extremely old email address on file for me.  I don't know the password and can't any option to reset--of course that would probably send an email to the bad address.  Is there another way to de-activate the account?  I have a Nook (1st edition) that seems to be working great other than I can't move my library materials over to it.  Help!
