Unable to de-authorize digital editions on my Mac

Hello,

Until recently I was able to download ebooks from the public library and open in digital editions.  Recently changes were made through the library's overdrive system and I could no longer open books in digital editions.  I was advised to update digital editions and de-authorize the old digital editions.  BUT my old adobe account is attached to an email account I can no longer access.  And I do not have the password for the  old adobe account which would allow me to de-authorize it.  I opened a new adobe account but this did not resolve the issue.
