"Unable to download" problem

When attempting to open an e-book I have recieved a message: "Unable to download. Error getting License. License Server Communications Problem: E_AUTH_BAD_DEVICE_KEY_OR_PKCS12". The e-book vendor and Adobe say all is working their end. Does anyone have any ideas what this might be?.
