unable to open a title on adobe digital editions

title borrowed from public library with overdrive on pc w/ 8.1. After download, unable to open or transfer to Sony Reader. Message on ADE " unable to open.... no record for this loan is found on this machine" The library view on ADE shows "ERROR". Public library shows the book checked out. Suggestions? Thanks. Brian
