Upgrading Digital editions - to lose ebooks

Hello

I have been using ebooks for over 20 years so come to this topic with a fair degree of confussion.

I have been using Adobe Digital editions (ADE) 1.7.2.1131 in that period to purchase and transfer ebooks to various ereaders with no problems at all.

 

Time arrives for a new PC (yes it happens) so downloaded a new version of ADE and then attempted to transfer the ebooks from one machine to the other. Nope.

 

As I see my problem I would need to create a book vendor ID for in excess of 70 book sellers (worldwide and some have gone out of the ebook business, such as sony). So not workable.

 

Or find a workable solution to this issue. So has anyone already come across a solution or is it a start from the beginning.

 

Any pointers?

    If I read your response correctly you suggest the problem is with the
    computer. The computer works perfectly with all other software - the only
    problem is Adobe digital editions for ebooks. So it's a software issue not
    hardware.
