When I try to download a book to ADE, I get a message "Adobe Reader could not open"title of book

When I try to download a book to my ADE I get a message "Adobe Reader could not open "title & numbers here" because it is either not a supported file type or because the file had been damaged ( for example, it was sent as an email attachment& wasn't correctly decoded."  What do I do about this?
