Why a book returned to Open Library is still not back to them?

A book from Open Library was downloaded nicely to ADE 2.0, but once I returned it, and it is no longer on my computer, they continue to show that I have it!  Can you help, please?

    Please check whether the book is there in C:\Users\<USERNAME>\Documents\My Digital Editions

    Thanks very much. Shortly after I posted my question, but without any explanation, I had a message from somebody helpful (no name) at Open Library, that the book has now been removed from my record. Thanks to you again--
