Why am I having a problem transferring e-books from ADE to Nook?

I have ADE version 2.0.1 and two early model Nooks, a Simple Touch and a Simple Touch with glow light.  I have been using Windows 10 on my laptop since it was availalble.  Everything was fine until a month ago.  Now, while I can still download e-books into ADE, I can no longer drag and drop them into my Nooks, because the Nook icon no longer shows up in the top left hand corner of the ADE page.  Need help.

It was working fine with windows 10, but now that I think about it, the problem did start after I downloaded a windows 10 update.  I wonder if there is a way to get rid of the update or if I can just get rid of 10 and go back to windows 8?
