Why does digital editions crash when opening pdf I bought?

My CEO has just bought a pdf document that has digital rights management on it, when he bought it he installed the digital editions software and authorized it with his adobe ID (which he just created). However, when he goes to add this PDF to his library in digital editions, digital editions crashes. We can get pdfs not covered by digital rights management opened and read but not this pdf document.

This is what I have done (unsuccessfully to try to resolve this)

1. Had him authorize computer with his adobe id

2. Shut down and reboot

3. Uninstall and reinstall Adobe Digital Editions.

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.
