Question

Low GPU and CPU usage during renders

GPU rendering is turned on in preferences, yet my GPU doesn't go over 10% utilization even for renders taking around 9 minutes. The temperature of the GPU does climb about 20° C during the renders and the clock frequency ramps up as shown in MSI afterburner, but the task manager window never shows more than 10% utilization the whole time.

I've seen comments like this for premiere Pro and After Effects going back at least two years in the Adobe community forums, but I have yet to find an answer as to why this happens, or how to fully utilize the GPU.

For reference, I am using a TUF 4070 TI with a 5900X and 64GB 3200MHz CL 16 RAM.

Your assistance is appreciated.

whats involed is removing two files

https://community.adobe.com/t5/dimension-discussions/can-t-start-dimension-cc/m-p/9873390#M1137

you can just place them in a backup folder somewhere to test things out without too much drama

stability issues = if your actual system is stable then it will stay that way... basically tells Dimension to just do the rendor and leaves the "how" of it to your system

to be clear, Dimension was a pilot program to make rendors on Mac and has be wrapped up now that Stagger is out... if you have the money then Stagger is Dimension + bits for more $, where as Dimension is older, less up to date and finished

your Gpu is not being used because its not one of the 3 [or so] they tested and they dropped the entire thing as too hard anyway

as a workaround people with good Windows systems remove their sniffer but thats more of a hack

If that's true that developers at Adobe only tried it with three or so GPUs and then gave up because it was too hard to use the graphics card to render graphics, that is sad indeed.

What sort of modifications are required for this workaround you mentioned, and does it introduce stability issues with any of the Adobe programs, or any part of the PC?
