Accidentally deleted my PM7 program on Win 10. Now no matter what I do, CD/disk won't install, even double clicking on setup.exe and set settings to Windows XP Service 3

Even though the CD won’t install, I do see the PM files. When the CD won’t kick in and automatically set up, I go to setup.exe and double click there but nothing happens.

when starting pm, right click the exe and run as administrator.

create a new project.  then use “save as” to save and use a simple file name saved to the desktop.

    any problem?

    PageMaker, Oh my!

That’s been dead for over 20 years. ☹️

Try using Adobe InDesign or Affinity Publisher instead.

does pm7 refer to page maker 7?

Yes, it’s my Pagemaker 7 CD/disk. However, upon further research, I copied the files from my CD disk on to my desktop and executed the setup.exe from there. That’s the good news and I can now open PM7. The bad news is that every time I go to close a PM 7 file, I now have trouble closing out the file and I get this error: “An unexpected error has occurred. The troubleshooting wizard can’t continue.” So, I’ve made some progress, but still don’t quite feel I’m out of the woods and in the clear executing my Pagemaker 7 app.
