Acrobat Installation

Please help. Can't restart my iMac because" software Adobe Reader X1 is being installed, interrupting the installation may damage the computer" It's been stuck at 80% for 3 hours now and I'm stuck with the message on my desktop screen. I've looked at Adobe AcroCleaner but no joy as Reader hasn't been installed, I can't cancel the installation either as greyed out. 

BTW Using iMac with Catalina

 

There must be a solution to this!

    Reader XI cannot work in Catalina. No old apps can work in Catalina. Get up to date- http://get.adobe.com/reader  - not surprised it left the system poorly.
