Question

Acrobat XI std upgrade/install fails error 1326

I purchased upgrade from Acrobat 9 standard to Acrobat XI standard. Received confirmation, serial numbers, etc. During install, it is recommended to uninstall the previous version (9 std). The uninstall/install seems to almost complete, then it stops with the above error message. I rebooted and tried again with same result.

Many thanks.

John

    is acrobat 9 uninstalled?

if no, uninstall it using your uninstaller.

if yes, run the cleaner:  http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html

    restart your computer

    then install acrobat xi

I think all is OK now. I was on line with chat for about two hours, including the wait, and we went through a number of efforts. I have administrative privileges, but with Windows 7 .... lots of issues. I later logged in with the built in Administrator account, and the install of XI and the uninstall of 9 seemed to go OK. I did have a problem at first with a nag about not having uninstalled the old version, but once I realized the screen was asking for the OLD serial number, it took it.

So I think I'm all right now. I will report back after I've had a chance to test it (late for work!)

Many thanks for the prompt reply. I am saving the link for the acrobat cleaner in case of future need.
