actions and batch processes running super slow immediately following update

I updated my CC yesterday so that Photoshop/ACR/Bridge were all up to date. (hadn't done it in a while because I have a fear of loosing my presets and actions and can never find where PS decides to save them so that I can back them up... anyway, I digress) Immeditely following the update, I noticed that PS is running slower, especially in regards to actions or batch processes. I tried to run an action that uses a gradient filter and PS lost its mind and took over 5 minutes to complete. I need a solution. Nothing I've read online is helping me come up with a solution on how to make things run faster again... 

Please help!!!!
