Activating CS3 on new computer [CS3 is dead]

I have been using CS3 successfully and still have my DVDs. I bought a new computer and would like to upload or transfer CS3 to it. I get to the activation screen and it tells me to activate by phone, but the phone system fails and disconnects the call after a few prompts

Activation servers for CS3 and CS4 are non existant. You cannot activate CS3.

ie, you can't easily use cs3 on any one computer for longer than the 30 day trial.
