Activation not allowed as serial number not recognized

Purchased education license after my trial period ended/expired. I can sign into my adobe online cloud account. I cannot activate my license and I continue to receive a message "unable to validate serial number," which serial number was received from Adobe via email post purchase. Needless to say, Acrobat DC does not properly function. This is extremely frustrating. Help is appreciated.
