Question

Activation of Adobe CS 5 Middle Eastern

Hello Adobe tech team & fellows,

My MacBook 2008 is dead, so I'm moving to the MacBook 2015 retina.

I've just tried to install my Adobe CS 5 Middle Eastern // I know it is not the most updated version, but it does the (basic) job for me.

Unfortunately, the serial number is not recognized, writing "this serial number is not valid for this product" - but actually the number is fine since my previous install on my dead MacBook worked fine >> what can I do?

I have the relevant screen shot + original license (CS5 ME was developed by WinSoft in France at that time), so I'm ready to share this to the relevant people at Adobe to solve it.

Thanks in advance,

Yossi

Adobe will not help on this one unfortunately neither Winsoft will.

  • Regarding the incompatibility error message you're getting, are you using original installer media that came with the serial number?
  • Was this media and serial number in a single box, or did you get the serial on an Adobe PDF certificate?
  • Speak to the vendor who sold you the product back then, perhaps they can assist you.

Hi Zaid,

Part of my previous message was in fact answering your questions - sorry for the confusion...

Please give my warm regards to John Boutros, that I knew well at the WinSoft period.

Thanks,

Yossi

Yossi thanks for the update.  Glad you are familiar with Winsoft as it often causes confusion for individuals.

Yossi you mentioned that you moved to a new MacBook 2015 running Sierra.  As part of this process did you migrate/transfer any files or applications?  If so this could explain why the serial number is not accepted with the valid installation files.

To recover from the migration/transfer of files please complete the following steps:

  1. Run all available uninstallers in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers
  2. Download and run the CC Cleaner Tool - Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems

Completing both of these steps should allow for the successful installation of Adobe software.

In general Yossi I recommend only migrating/transferring any required documents and settings between computers.  Choosing the option to migrate over Applications, and other files, can lead to situations that you are currently facing with serial numbers not being accepted.

What Mac operating system are you running.

CS5 is very old, is no longer supported, and it doesn't run on the latest Mac or Windows operating systems.

I use now OS 10.12 (and 10.11 before).

I know about the limitations of these old versions and meantime I'm OK to use only what works - my current problem is with activation, I'm fine with the rest for now.

Any solution for me?

Yossi

I'm moving this to the Creative Suite forum since it's really not an InDesign issue.
