Adobe acrobat pro installer won't open

I downloaded the free trial of adobe acrobat pro for a class, but when I double click the installer to open it, nothing comes up. I've tried right-clicking to be sure that I select "run," but that doesn't help either. If I try it twice, I get a pop-up that says "host: single instance." Does anyone know how to solve this?

    Both Windows 10 and Mac 10.11 El Capitan have been known to cause problems... what is YOUR operating system?

    An idea that MAY work to install and/or run old programs in Windows 10

    Thank you for the quick response. I have Windows 8 on a PC--I tried changing the compatibility just to check, but it still didn't do anything.
