You will probably have to uninstall and reinstall every bit of Adobe software and run the relevant Creative Suite Cleaner Tool and Acrobat Cleaner Tool in between. Some update may have blocked the installer database or changed some otehr stuff. In any case, since Acro 9 is EOL and only the most critical security updates are done for it, you probably won't miss much.

Thank you very much this doesn't sound like fun and I know you'll think I am nuts but what does EOL mean?

Does this mean I have to uninstall my Adobe photo shope and Elements also?

    Thanks for your assistance

EOL = End of Life/ End of Line. Yes, unsinstalling will require to get rid of photoshop as well, as the installer database and otehr components are globally shared by all Adobe products to avoid redundant installs.
