Adobe Application Manager

I am an Adobe CC client and recently updated Photoshop 2017 and Lightroom (looks like 2015 most recent version). I do keep a copy of Lightroom 5 on my computer but now I am not sure why!  My question is about the Adobe Application Manager which takes up ssd drive space...I've read several posts indicating it was supposed to be removed and replaced by Adobe Creative Cloud yet it still sits in my Application Folder>Utilities subfolder. It has 14 items inside the folder and the app itself is in the "core" subfolder. Do I need this ??  If not, how can I remove it given that the Adobe CC installation did not automatically delete it as was indicated in answers in other posts.

Bestsides the Adobe Application Manager is a component of the Creative Cloud Desktop application.  An updated version will continue to be installed when you install Creative Cloud software.

If your concern is over removing unnecessary files then I would recommend following JBM007's advice and run all available uninstallers followed by the use of the CC Cleaner Tool.  You can find download the CC Cleaner tool at Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems​.

Removing components after the applications are already installed will just lead to the Adobe applications no longer functioning.  In this case you would loose your ability to license, or update, your installed Adobe applications by removing the Adobe Application Manager.

Okay, thank you. I've been considering a clean install of the Sierra OSX as I am on El Capitan so maybe I should just go for a "clean" new install of Adobe CC as well. I just didn't want to to make the time to do this. Something in those other posts made me think that the Adobe Application Manager was a thing of the past and should not be on my system anymore as it was replaced by Adobe CC downloader. I'll check for known problems between Sierra and Adobe CC before I do any of this. I don't want any surprises LOL.

Thanks for the update Bestsides.  If you are installing the Creative Cloud applications through the Creative Cloud desktop app under macOS Sierra you should encounter no problems.  You can find complete details regarding the install process at Download and install Creative Cloud apps​.

If however you are installing utilizing direct download installation packages then see Installing Creative Cloud on macOS 10.12 (Sierra) for details on how to begin the installation process.

For what it is worth if you are not going to keep a copy of LR 5 on your machine, I would go back uninstall everything Adobe,

Run the Adobe creative cloud cleaner tool, reboot your machine and start over.

Other wise something is likely to get gubbered up.
