Adobe Application Manager Won't Connect!

When I attempt to check for updates in either PS CS6 or Lr4, I get the error that Adobe Application Manager is unable to connect to the update server.  I've added the exception for Adobe to my firewall and also added Adobe to my trusted sites!  Any thoughts?

    Correct answer neohphotos

Neohphotos perhaps you can try temporarily disabling your Firewall software to see if that relieves your difficulty?  If that fails then you might also try running in selective startup and downloading the updates that way.

You can also download and install the updates manually from http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/.

OK ... disabled my firewall, no change! Went in and tweaked every security protocol that I could think of and added every Adobe product on my computer to the firewall exceptions list and tried again ... no change. Disabled my firewall AND security software and still wouldn't connect to the Adobe Application Manager. Finally thought I'd just go ahead and do the update manually! So this is for your information in case you have to try and help another idiot like me.

The installation instructions state 'Ensure that the folder on your hard drive containing Photoshop is named "Adobe Photoshop CS6"'

So I download the update package, and being the attention to detail idiot that I am, I changed the name of my folder which was titled "Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit) eliminating the reference to (64 Bit). Ran the patch and got an error code.  Scratched my head a little and finally thought that since my 64 bit version of CS6 wanted the reference to the 64 Bit in it's name since that is what the installer program had named it's default directory, who was I to change it!

I changed the folder name back to it's original name adding back the (64 Bit), reran the patch and in under 45 seconds, I was running CS6 version 13.0.1 x64

Thanks for the help and Have Happy Holidays!

The problem is almost certainly due to the way your computer links to the internet. Nothing to do with anti virus. Go to Control Panel>Network and Internet>Network Connections. If you go via Network and Sharing Centre then look for Change Adapter Settings. You may see several adapters for connecting to the internet. Personally I have Local Area Connection and Wireless Network Connection and Wireless Connection 2. Wireless Network Connection is my wi-fi hub. Wireless Connection 2 is Microsoft Virtual Mini-Port. It is important that all adapters are completely disabled other than the one you use of course. If they say not connected this is not good enough - they must say disabled. The only one I have enabled is Wireless Network Connection (my wifi hub). This cured my exact same problem with my Adobe Suite and other software. Good luck.

I had the exact same issue and what Rob suggested did the trick and now I am completely updated! Thank you Rob!

You are allowing the Adobe Application Manager to connect to the Internet?  You might also want to check your host file to make sure that it is not being blocked there.  You can find some guidence on checking the host file at http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-network-issues.html.

Thanks Jeff, but that is not my issue. I still tried the hosts file and got the proper response and all of my Adobe products are registered. My principle product usages are both Photoshop CS6 and Photoshop Lightroom 4.

If I manually click on either help link <check for updates...> I get the following error popup ....

I'm using 64-bit Windows 7 and everything is functional, I just can't update!

Are you on a managed network or is this a home/home office network?
