Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App Issues; Blank, won't re-install/uninstall, in a frustrating loop...

I'm stuck in a loop here:

The CC Desktop app does not show anything in the window and I can't access it's tools.

After multiple reboot and attempts to reestablish "connection" with in the Desktop App I tried the following:

1) Downloaded to re-install the CC Desktop App, I get an error about 1/2 of the way through the setup "Creative Cloud Set-Up has stopped working".

2) Next I tried uninstalling, it says I can't without uninstalling my "Creative Cloud applications" (Photoshop and Lightroom)

3) I try and uninstall Photoshop CC or Lightroom CC and they give me an error that says "Adobe Application Manager is needed to resolve this issue. However it is missing or damaged. Please download and install a new copy...", following that link and instructions eventually brings me to having download the CC Desktop app, which won't install... (back at step 1)

I think you get the picture...

Both PS and LR run, just won't be able to update or use other CC features from the Desktop App until resolved.

How do I actually re-install the desktop app (which appears to be corrupted) so my CC applications and Desktop are working again (able to be updated etc..).

Help with this would be very much appreciated.

Richard

Try the Adobe CC cleaner tool: Use the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems

I, too, am having this problem. I received the alert down in the System Tray telling me that there was an update for Creative Cloud. When I clicked on the pop-up I was shown an empty Creative Cloud window with a progress bar showing 0% progress. Nothing ever happened thereafter. No error message. No progress.

I was still able to access all my other regular websites. I was still able to run Photoshop CC, Lightroom CC  and Bridge CC; and they showed me as being signed in to the cloud. This also happened the last time there was a CC update. And I do mean CC itself. I have had a couple of application updates since I last installed CC. I'm guessing these were new camera support being added to Adobe Camera Raw and to LR. Last time I had this problem I had to manually kill all Adobe processes before the Uninstall of CC would even start. That meant digging into Windows Task Manager. Having killed them all I was able to do a successful uninstall of CC. I was then also able to be a re-install. However, that then wanted to re-install all my existing CC apps (Photoshop, Lightroom and Bridge). All in all, a real pain in the ****.

Something, somewhere, is wrong - seriously wrong. I do not want a circumvention, I want a proper problem diagnosis and resolution so that this never happens to me again. Come on, Adobe. Get your act together!

hi

my solution is still a circumvention, but done in a few minutes ...

guess that i had the same problem as you. i asked in the forum and got a stupid answer (creative cloud desktop app missing). i wasnt polite, but who is, if you face such stupid things... anyway, i tried to reinstall the cc desktop app, but it failed (without any comment of the install routine - just desappeared ...). as you, i tried to reinstall via windows system, but it didnt worked because i had also to deinstall all apps (hours of work).  because the apps (photoshop, lr, etc.) still worked and i had no time to search more, i let it as it was. i was going to reinstall my hole pc, it is due for a long time, and didnt care about the missing cc desktop app. today a update for illustrator appeared from nowhere and i could install it (without the cc desktop app). than an idea hit me: i just deleted the folder with the cc app: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Creative Cloud. afterwards i was able to install the cc app. and guess what - i was still loged. now everything seems to work as before.

Hi Richard,

Please try the steps below:

1)       Uninstall the Adobe CC desktop app (https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html)

2)       Reboot the machine.

3)       Install the latest version of Adobe creative cloud from the link: Creative Cloud Help | Creative Cloud for desktop
