Adobe CS6 Master Collection cannot be activated after reinstalling on macOS High Sierra 10.13.6

Hello everyone,

I hope someone can help me.

I own an original Adobe CS6 Master Collection.

CS6 had been running perfectly on my iMac 27" (Late 2013) for many years. Recently, I completely erased my Mac and performed a clean installation of macOS High Sierra 10.13.6. After that, I reinstalled CS6 from the original DVD.

During the installation, I was asked to enter my serial number. After entering the serial number and clicking "Next", the following message immediately appeared:

"Please connect to the Internet and try again."

It also says:

"The computer appears to be offline. An Internet connection is required. Please connect to the Internet and try again."

When I start Photoshop afterwards, the "Validate Serial Number" window appears.

If I click "Validate", the exact same message appears again.

Additional information:

macOS High Sierra 10.13.6

iMac 27" (Late 2013)

My Internet connection is working.

CS6 had been running on this exact Mac for many years before I reinstalled macOS.

Unfortunately, before reinstalling macOS, I did not know that CS6 should be deactivated before formatting the computer. Therefore, I formatted the Mac without deactivating the software first. I assumed I could simply reinstall CS6 and activate it again using my serial number.

My questions are:

Could this problem be caused by the fact that I did not deactivate CS6 before formatting my Mac?

If so, is there still a way to release or reset the activation?

Or is this a different issue, since the message about the Internet connection already appears during the installation process?

I would greatly appreciate any help or suggestions.

Thank you very much!🙏🙏🙏

    use offline activation:

    Launch the product.

At the Serial Number Validation screen, click Having Trouble Connecting To The Internet.

Click Offline Activation and click Generate a Response Code.

    Write down the Request Code.

Switch to an online computer and navigate to www.adobe.com/go/getactivated.

Enter your Request code and click Generate.

    Write down the Response code.

Apple hasn’t updated High Sierra in over 6 years. And Adobe ended support for CS6 about 12 years ago. I’m not surprised your system can’t connect with modern internet servers. Too many things have changed.

    MODERN REPLACEMENT OPTIONS:

    Hope that helps.

Thank you very much for your help and for taking the time to respond to my post.

I really appreciate your support. Your suggestion about using Offline Activation solved my problem completely. It actually worked, and I was finally able to activate my Adobe CS6 Master Collection successfully.

I had been trying to solve this issue for quite some time, so I was very happy when the offline activation worked.

Thank you again for your help. It made a big difference!

    @Slam2Go

you’re very welcome and good job following those steps.  now, try to keep the computer running as long as you can because you probably won’t be able to activate your cs6 on another computer even if you appear to deactivate first.

that isn’t necessarily true, but it is probable.  you might want to bookmark the following for future reference.

    Thanks for posting, @Slam2Go.

I appreciate your long-term use of our software, and I apologize for any confusion with the activation process for Creative Suite 6.

macOS 10.13.6 (High Sierra) should generally still be able to communicate with Adobe activation services, provided the OS is fully updated and can establish secure internet connections. Before proceeding further, I'd recommend checking the following:

    1. Confirm the Mac can access modern HTTPS websites in Safari.
    2. Verify the system date, time, and timezone are correct.
    3. Check that no Adobe-related entries have been added to the hosts file.
    4. Install all available security updates for macOS 10.13.6.
    5. Verify that the Adobe Account and sign-in pages can be reached from a web browser.

If the issue began after the Mac was erased and reinstalled, the activation record itself may not be the root cause. The checks above will help determine whether the system can still communicate successfully with Adobe's activation servers.
