Adobe Desktop Service has gotten into apps and is crashing my Mac with Catalina OS

Hi, I've spent about 11 hours with Apple Support trying solve a shutdown crash issue. After a lot of analysis, the Apple team found that Adobe Desktop Service is doing something within several apps that it shouldn't be touching--textedit, Mail, MS Word, and Firefox--and they suspect that might be why the machine crashes. I am a Creative Cloud subscriber. Can someone please tell me if they've had a similar experience? Also, anyone out there know how to disable the ADS, and what the consequences of doing so might be. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

Adobe desktop service MAC disable
  1. Click on the menu bar icon.
  2. Click the ellipsis icon at the top-right.
  3. Select “Preferences”
  4. Uncheck “Launch at login”.
  5. Note: The “Preferences” option does not appear until you log in to Creative Cloud.

While Adobe recommends not removing ADS, they do provide an uninstaller you can download to clear it from your system entirely.

Uninstall the Creative Cloud desktop app:

Hi, Thanks for this suggestion. I hesitate to unistall the desktop app at this point since I don't fully understand what its consequences will be. I assume it will also uninstall lightroom and photoshop? Do you know? If so, have you had experience restoring them after reinstallation? I'm esp concerned b/c I'm protective of my lightroom library.

Thanks,
