Adobe InDesign for High Sierra 10.13 unavailable

Hi,

 

I am running a Macbook late 2012 with CC 2019-2022 (version 5.9.1.377) and I need Adobe InDesign for work. The App says my machine is incompatible with the latest versions and has no download links to a 2020 version which I need (I am running Lightroom, Photoshop and Premier all in 2020 versions with no issues). I have tried to find a download link to a a 2020 version and even reached out to an agent as some people have suggested. I did get hold of someone from Adobe and was told: 

"I’m really sorry for the inconvenience, but Adobe no longer supports macOS High Sierra 10.13, and the Creative Cloud apps — including older versions like InDesign 2020 — have also been discontinued. That’s why you can't download or install them on your current system.

I completely understand how frustrating this can be. Updating your Mac to a newer OS version would allow access to supported apps."

Updating my Macbook in order isnt an option right now as that would mean buying a new macbook (±$1600), so I guess my question is: Is there anyway I can find an installer for a 2020 version of Adobe InDesign, without A) downloading it from a dodgy thrid-party site or B) buying a new macbook?

Andrew, thanks for posting your question about downloading an older version of InDesign. Unfortunately, the version you are looking for is no longer available for distribution from Adobe. Please contact the organization you are working for; they may have a Creative Cloud for Enterprise or Team membership that could still have access to older versions. You should contact them, Andrew, if they require you to install an older version of InDesign.

 

For information about the versions of InDesign that are available to download through your Individual membership, see https://adobe.ly/47lKUy1. You may need to upgrade to a new device, Andrew, if no current versions of InDesign will install on the MacBook. ^JW

I know that many users successfully install newer systems on unsupported Macs by using OpenCore Legacy Patcher:

In which case you should be able to use the latest InDesign versions.

 

I personally don't have any experience with OCLP and only post it as general info which you may or may not find useful. If you want to know more I recommend to check forums on MacRumors.com where there are many active OCLP discussions.

Graphics programs will run poorly on that old machine, and Open Core is a PITA to use. Definitely NOT recommended for anyone who doesn't already know about it and the limitations.

    Unfortunately your computer is no longer supported by Apple or Adobe. You can get a new/refurbished MacBook that will be current and run MUCH faster than your old machine, and not have security problems as well.

     

    Looking online, Best Buy has the base model 13" M4 Air for $799, as an example. A refurb 15" M4 Air with 24GB of RAM is $1200 on Apple's website.
