adobe is not recognizing the serial number on the box

Adobe start up screen for element 12 isnt recognizing the serial number attached on the purchased box !

If the number you are talking about was on the outside of the package it is not a serial number.  Serial numbers are hidden inside so that not just anyone can copy it and use it - which they could if it were.  Look on the disc case inside the box.   Find your serial number quickly

Also, it is possible you are dealing with a redemption code, which is what you use to acquire a serial number.  Here is a link in case that is the case here.
