Adobe Lightroom 6.8 update

I got a message telling me to update to Adobe Lightroom.  I do not have Lightroom CC but selected update.  Corrupted my Lightroom 6 (DESKTOP version). I

reinstalled Lightroom 6. But cannot reinstall the updates to Version 6.6 and Camera Raw to 9.6.  Numerous forums address Lightroom 6CC versions. I repeat, I do not have the CC version.  Also cannot sign in, I have shutdown the firewall and it still doesn't work. One last thing, if I have Lightroom 6, Why am I getting Lightroom CC update messages in the first place?

if you install the cc desktop app and update via a message from the app, your lr 6 will be converted to lr cc.  ie, don't update via the cc desktop app.  in fact, if you have no cc subscription and you're not using a cc trial, you should uninstall the app.

at this point you may need to uninstall everything cc and clean and then reinstall lr 6.

Downloadable installation files available:

Download and installation help for Adobe links

Download and installation help for Prodesigntools links are listed on most linked pages.  They are critical; especially steps 1, 2 and 3.  If you click a link that does not have those steps listed, open a second window using the Lightroom 3 link to see those 'Important Instructions'.
