Adobe Photoshop Elements 13 update installation on iMac

I am told that I have a update to Adobe Photoshop Elements 13.  My mac tells me that the update has been successfully installed.  But then my computer freezes and I cannot use the program and I have to force quit to get out of it.  I am using mac OS Sierra v. 10.12.6.  Has any one come had this problem and what was your solution.
