Adobe Photoshop Elements 14 won't launch

Hi,

I'm hoping to get a solution for this. Please read fully..

Laptop Specs:

  • Intel i5-6200 @ 2.30 GHz
  • 500 GB HDD
  • 8 GB RAM
  • Windows 7 Pro

So my client has Adobe Photoshop Elements 14 and Adobe Premiere Elements 14. Both are working fine. Until yesterday, she calls me and says her Photoshop isn't working. Adobe Premiere still opens just fine. But Adobe Photoshop won't launch or even create a background process ( looked into ending the process, but it's not even running as a background). I tried opening the shortcut and the actual exe file from the installation folder, still no avail. We tried rebooting countless times. I also tried logging in as admin. Is there anything that she did that caused it not to open? I tried searching all over but could not find a similar issue to this.

Thanks in advance!

Hi kglad,

I tried following that, but there are no Preferences under the Folder specified

We ended up uninstalling then reinstalling the whole thing and it worked just fine.

Thanks for the help!

I have the exact same problem and customer support refused to unlock it. Said they do not support older programs so I have a disk that's now a brick! Greedy bastards want me instead to upgrade and pay them a monthly charge! I don't think so. Screw it!

what do you mean by "..unlock it"?  ie, exactly what problem do you see and when do you see it?

When my old computer died and was replaqced I had disk for 14 and loaded it anew and kept getting window message claiming I exceeded the number of computers it was loaded on and I should "deactivate" them. I tried doing that but then got Elements message to exit the program. I did, and quit, and PS14 then opened as normal. My old computer is long gone now and the program was erased from my laptop but kept getting the same irritating message to deactivate. Then, yesterday, could not open PS14 at all!  Total "lock-down". No f.ing PS14 with the disk! Is that clear now? Greedy bastards now want me to upgrade and pay a monthly charge for latest bells and whisles version I do not want or need.
