A question about Adobe Portfolio. Currently my portfolio is on Square Space. I have my custom domain through Rebel.ca. I have a CC subscription. Question..If I build a portfolio/website with Adobe Portfolio, do I have to find someone like Go Daddy (as mentioned by Adobe) to host it or am I all set to go, just repoint the DNS. If I discontinue with Square Space ($12/mth), will I incur other charges from anyone else in order to have my website up and running with Adobe Portfolio? thank you.ask question

Correct answer Nancy OShea

The correct answers to your Portfolio questions are as follows.

  1. Hosting on Adobe's servers is included with your Portfolio site. So you do not need to buy web hosting.
  2. Portfolio comes free with your paid Creative Cloud Plan.
  3. A custom domain name is optional.  And you must pay for that yourself.  Otherwise your site's URL will be https :// your_name . myportfolio . com

@True Beginnings Creative,

Short answer: NO.

There is a separate embed module for XD designers to showcase examples of their work online.

https://help.myportfolio.com/hc/en-us/articles/360036483773-Embed-module

However you cannot use XD to design your own Theme.  All the tools you need to build your portfolio are provided within the PF online platform, ranging from PhotoGrids and Lightroom viewers to Contact Forms, buttons and Social media icons.

Currently, there are 12 Themes to choose from -- Thomas & Marta are probably the most popular.  And to a limited extent, you can customize your Themes (see theme examples & comparison charts below).

Hope that helps.

Thank you John.  I also found a very useful resource on Lynda.com . It took me through everything.  Although not as robust as Square Space, Adobe Portfolio will do the job.
