Adobe Product Ransom

Our school district was extremely disappointed to discover that the Adobe products we have paid for are now failing to launch and show a full page warning that the software is somehow invalid. The page remains on screen and cannot be closed thus sabotaging any other work unless the links are followed in the warning. We have done that, opened a chat link to Adobe and provided our valid software key only to be handed off multiple times with absolutely no progress by Adobe to correct their issue. I spent 2 hours in chat and basically the response was Adobe has now claimed the volume license for their products will no longer be honored and that additional monthly fees will now be imposed on this already ridiculously overpriced software. This blackmail mentality is criminal. We will have to move forward paying the ransom until our district can get the software removed from our curriculum and then we will not do any further business with Adobe ever.

    It would help to know which products you are referring to and what system you are installing them on.

     

    If you are referring to the Creative Suite products, the following is true:

    • CS1-CS3 are no longer supported in any way.
    • Adobe customer support can help with CS4-CS6 activation if you tell them you need an activation limit reset. Other issues are handled on a case-by-case basis, but for the most part, Adobe is no longer supporting CS4-CS6 other than maintaining the activation servers.
    • If you are not being helped by your customer support agent, insist on speaking with a Supervisor. They have more training in Adobe policies and a bit more flexibility when it comes to helping customers (see, "case-by-case basis").

     

    Unfortunately, most users here will not be able to help you as we are not Adobe employees.

    That sounds more like you were (illegally) sold some volume licences and Adobe has now blocked these.

     

    I'm also wondering why a school is teaching 10 year old software: are there many students who want to learn CS instead of CC?

    They didn't say they were using Creative Suites, actually, but after the reference to  "additional monthly fees" after already paying for the product outright, I thought it sounded like they might still be using a non-subscription product and were being told they couldn't use it anymore and had to use a subscription product. CS is the most likely candidate for that sort of thing.

    This is a community forum, not Adobe enterprise/education support. We can't help you with account or activation issues here, but we can refer you to them in order to work it out. Complaining about "ransom" and "blackmail" isn't going to get you very far in this forum comprised of other users just like you, who are trying to help with valid questions.
