AI CS6 Won't Launch

I get the following error in Illustrator CS6 I am running macOS High Sierra 10.13.6

''Unable to set maximum number of files to be opened''

It worked fine yesterday and the only thing I did do was install AnyDesk

I have an urgent deadline and need to get this fixed. Desperately need help!!

Thanks kglad when I tried the shortcut it still won't launch to the point where the preferences come up

delete the preference file
