Application Manager and previously installed Apps

1. My Creative Cloud Application Manager doesn't recognize that I have Photoshop installed (I had Photoshop before Creative Cloud). How can I get Cloud to recognize it?

2. Is there a way to check for updates via the Application Manager rather than from individual apps?

Now Adobe can you come up with a fix for the rest of us, please?

Hi EselJaye,

The original issue described with the thread is some of the applications already installed still list install next to them in the Adobe Application Manager. I was able to reproduce this behavior myself by installing products with a different Adobe ID than I used prior to installing/signing in with the Adobe Application Manager. The update issue that Mike had was a little different than the rest described in the thread by others. The issue with install being listed can typically be resolved by uninstalling through the OS (Control Panel > Programs & Features or Mac HD > Applications > Utilities > Adobe Installers) and then resinstalling them through Adobe Application Manager. However, the Install listing has no impact on the operation of the apps - its just confusing. The developers are aware of the issue and this is something which is planned to be addressed in the future but I don't have an ETA.

This really sucks! I reinstalled Photoshop and Lightroom and had the same issue after a couple of days again!

A little late to this but I hope this helps those having this problem.

The fix is version 6.2 of Application Manager specifically to patch the Application Manager that is installed with the CD version or the ESD version of the affected software. The correct filename for pre Adobe CC Applications Manager is -

ApplicationManager6.2_all.exe

Any Adobe apps or CS6 apps that were purchased with a CD or ESD before Creative Could had a perpetual license. Those that purchased there software didnt have to be a member of the Creative Cloud to update their software.

They were able to get the AAM6.2 patch automatically til CC was released. When CC was released the version of Applicaton manager was updated to the Creative Cloud version. That's when all the trouble started.

It was only after CC that those with perpetual licenses started having update issues. This was due to the later versions of Appliction Manager patch file that was released.

I was able to find the file after many days of shear frustration. It's on the web and available.

[Update]

I've been tinkering around today with this problem. For all the items in my AAM that indicated "Try" instead of "Installed" (inspite of them being fully installed and functioning on my computer); I followed these steps:

- Uninstalled the application using the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool.

- I checked in my Applications folder (Mac) that were was no evidence of the application whatsoever.

- I then went to AAM and clicked on the "Try" button and allowed the application to fully download and install.

- This has fixed my problem with the exception of Muse.

Besides the insane waste of bandwidth since I already have a perfectly good MasterCollection CS6 disk sitting on my desk; it has shown all my Adobe applications now as "INSTALLED".

For Muse, it shows as Installed, but when I look in Applications, it is not there. I have tried several times to uninstall it and reinstall it but it just seems stuck. And when I click on "Launch App" nothing happens.

My new problem NOW is updates. When I check for Updates through AAM, there are several available; I have tried to install these updates; some worked, e.g. Illustrator; some refuse to update and come up with a "Failed" to update message - such as Speedgrade. I even went to the extend of uninstalling Speedgrade altogether and downloading / installing and trying the update again - still no luck.

So I feel I have made some progress; but I've killed my bandwidth thanks to Adobes SLOW response to this issue. I guess I'll have to play Russian Roulette with the updates until a fix comes out (someday).

Mike,

Looks like the program database on your machine may have been corrupted.

Please download the Adobe CS Cleaner Tool and try cleaning up those products that you know do not exist on your system.

The cleaner tool can be downloaded from http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html

Regards,

Amit

Amit - The Adobe Muse problem I documented above has been resolved by the Muse team who I contacted directly. They didn't have an answer, but supplied me with a separate installation DMG file to try; and this worked. So the problem is definitely an AAM problem.

My only remaining problem is that there are items apparently requiring updating, but when I choose to update them, it comes back with a "failed" message.

ALL of these applications exist on my system, i.e. there are no applications in the AAM that shouldn't be there, the problem is failure to update.

I already have the Adobe CS Cleaner Tool. The trouble with this tool is that "cleaning" basically means deleting and re-downloading. I can't afford the bandwidth. Basically Adobe has chewed up most of my available bandwidth this month -

Just to add an extra voice to this list, I'm having the same issue.

Not a major problem, at this stage, but I could see it will be an issue in the long run.

Yup! Me too. I had no problems until recently. I was working off a non-cloud version of Master Collection CS6. Then a couple of days ago I decided to switch to the Creative Cloud. Since that point the Adobe Application Manager is showing quite a few of my Apps as not installed; even though they are installed and functioning. With InDesign I decided to do a test and let it install from AAM. It got to the end and then threw up and error on installation (what a waste of bandwidth).
Also, Muse has stopped altogether. Even if I use the cleaner to remove it and then install it again from AAM, it just is not there even if it ways Installed in AAM.

Adobe, PLEASE fix this!

Amit - Any idea of when a fix can be expected?

I have a mix of apps, some pre-installed (LR) and some from Creative Cloud. The only one that shows up as installed is Edge Animate...all the others are not recognised...

When I open the Updater, they are all there..but the CC AAM doesn't see them. Very odd.

Hi JM_Cook,

1. I just want to confirm that it is Photoshop CS6. Typically if the same product was already installed before joining Creative Cloud it should be unavailable to install and just say "Installed" already in the Adobe Application Manager (except Acrobat and Flash Builder). If this wasn't the case, and you wanted to install Photoshop CS6 as part of Creative Cloud, you could just uninstall the prior version and reinstall it through Adobe Application Manager.

2. Help > Updates is the best way. Once you do this though it should check for updates for all programs.

1. It is Photoshop CS6 and it is not recognized at all by the Application Manager. It just says "install" next to Photoshop.

2. Seems rather unhelpful, since you have to quit programs in order to update them. It would make a lot more sense to be able to launch only Application Manager to check for and install updates.

Thats odd about it not recognizing the Photoshop CS6 installation. It should - its not a beta version of Photoshop CS6 correct? Is Photoshop CS6 listed in along with other programs for uninstalling in

Control Panel > Programs & Features (Windows 7)
Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs (XP)
Mac HD > Applications > Utilities > Adobe Installers (Mac OS X)

I agree about installing updates, being able to install them right from the Adobe Application Manager would be much easier
