Attempting to transfer Photoshop CS5 to new laptop

I'm attempting to transfer Photoshop CS5 from my old Macbook Pro to my new Macbook Pro Retina via USB (External Harddrive), as the Retina has no CD drive.

All appears to transfer successfully, but when I try to open Photoshop I get the following warning:

"Configuration Error.

Please uninstall and reinstall the product.

If this problem still occurs, please contact Adobe technical support for help, and mention the error code shown at the bottom of this screen.

Error: 6

http://www.adobe.com/support/"

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

did you properly install cs5 or did you use some sort of migration software?

I literally just dragged the Photoshop CS5 folder, containing Photoshop CS5, Legal, Presents, Configuration, Uninstall Software etc... on the external harddrive, then dragged it from there to the applications folder on my new Macbook.

Is there something extra I should be doing?

Thanks for the fast response!

delete what you dragged (assuming you still have your originals).

then use the ps cs5 installation files to properly install ps cs5 onto your new mac.  if you need the installation files and if you follow all 7 steps you can dl a trial here: http://prodesigntools.com/all-adobe-cs5-direct-download-links.html

and activate with your serial.

if you have a problem dl'g, you didn't follow all 7 steps.  the most common error involves failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).  so, your browser must also accept cookies to enable these downloads.

then if you need/want to migrate images and projects, you can drag them like you did before.  but don't drag anything into your installation directory.
