audition 3 error with installation

I had a virus on my PC running Windows 7 x64. Before the virus attacked, I had Audition 3.0.1 installed and working perfectly - no issues. After the virus attacked, I could not salvage the Windows installation, so I reinstalled Windows 7 x64, and now I am re-installing all of the applications that I need. Adobe Audition 3 installation worked without a problem. But when I attempt to launch the application, I get the error message: An error has been detected with a required application library and the product cannot continue. Please reinstall the application.

I took that advice and reinstalled the application, but upon launching it, I received the same error message. I then attempted to install the 3.0.1 patch on top of the application, thinking that it might resolve the issue, but the patch complained of the same issue and would not install.

Anyone know what the issue is or how to install Audition 3 successfully on Windows 7 x64?

My System

Windows 7 64-bit, SP1, 12 GB RAM, more than 100GB free disk space on drive C:, all Windows patches from Windows Update have been applied.

    CS2 + Acrobat 7 + Audition 3 (AND EARLIER) Activation Server is gone, so read below

    You MUST use the special version and serial number on the page, not your original disc or serial number

    NOTE that CS2 will not install at all on a "modern" Mac with an Intel CPU

    When you install the special version of PPro2 on a Win7 or Win8 or Win10 computer, you MAY need to right click the program icon and select WinXP compatibility from the option popup
